I've never been a big Madonna fan but I did buy her latest CD "Confessions on a dance floor' and I really love it. It has stayed in the car and pretty well been in full rotation on the CD player there. It seems to me to be good driving music.

I was listening to the song jump today and actually heard part of the lyrics - I rather liked the line 'life's gonna drop you down like the limbs of a tree' and 'we learned our lessons from the start my sisters and me'. Seems like a kind of anthem to women's friendships.

All The King's Horses

This song is from the new Robert Plant album 'Mighty Rearranger'. I just picked up the album today and haven't listened to the whole thing yet. It is a very interesting album and I am enjoying it so far. Not my usual type of music but I heard the song 'All The King's Horses' and found it hypnotically beautiful. After hearing it a couple more times, I love it even more.

I hear bits of Led Zeppelin in the album. I was never much of a Led Zeppelin fan - I must admit I like them more now than I ever did before. I can certainly understand their popularity.

I think this album is really going to grow on me.

Breathe

Driving home from the gym tonight, slightly in a daze, and these lyrics really pulled me in. Particularly this line "But my God it's so beautiful when the boy smiles" Boy, does that strike a chord. The song is by Anna Nalick - a 20 year old singer-songwriter. The best way to find lyrics on the internet - type a single line of the lyrics into google - don't type the name of the song or the artist. Google will find the actual lyrics rather than send you to all sorts of marketing sites if it has some of the lyrics to search with.

Joni Mitchell

Joni Mitchell's album 'Blue' was released in 1971 .... 36 years ago. How on earth did I manage to not own this album until today. I listen to the album 'Court & Spark' all the time - it is one of my absolute favourites. But it was the only Joni Mitchell album I had - in fact I'm not sure that I'd heard many of her albums - just the odd song here and there. I realized a few months ago that I needed to buy all of her others albums - how could I not love them given my attachment to 'Court & Spark'. I bought 4 more today. CD prices are really good these days. 'Blue' is the first one I am listening to and it feels like part of me already. Her work is timeless. Poems, every song. This one has particular meaning.

I've never been a huge George Michael fan, but, damm I love this song! I bought the CD on my way home from work tonight and am torn between listening to the sound on the hockey game or this song - OK hockey won! I would have to say that George is definitely improving with age.
