What a rainy day! It has rained non-stop here in Toronto - although I know it is nothing compared to what our neighbours in the south are getting. The dreaded hurricane season in on us. I've been enjoying 'unscheduled free time today. Still organizing and decorating at home. Today I tackled the very crowded bookcases in my spare room - where all my current books end up. I've got piles of books in my room, more piles in the living room and they all eventually find their way to the spare room. I've acquired many new cookbooks over the last few weeks and all this moving around of books started when I realized I needed to find storage for the new acquisitions. Cookbooks are soemthing that I cannot resist.
Three new cookbooks arrived last night - I joined a book club that specializes in cookbooks, so these three were the initial purchases of 3 for $3. .... the deal they lure you in with. My picks were -
Homebaking .... The Artful Mix of Flour and Tradition Around the World by Jeffrey Alford & Naomi Duguid
This is a truly beautiful book and all their books are. It is art - meant to be read and savoured. Inspiring.
Vegetarian Suppers from Deborah Madison's Kitchen. I love that she explains that suppers unlike dinners are informal and homey.
Vegetable Love by Barbara Kafka. This book makes you realize that you could totally live on veggies alone.
Other cookbooks I've gotten over the last few weeks ...
The Vegetarian Passport Cookbook ... Simple Vegetarian Dishes From Around the World by Linda Woolven. The book features beautiful, simple and healthy recipes - exactly how I like to cook and eat.
The Cranks Bible by Nadine Abensur. This is my second book from this line. Crank's was a vegetarian restaurant in London that closed several years ago. I love the Cranks recipes - they all have an exotic touch to them.
Real Fast Food by Nigel Slater. One of several famous English foodies ... along with Nigella Lawson & Jamie Oliver. I love his writing style and the simplicity of his approach to food.
So now you see why I had to rearrange book shelves ... there are always new books to accommodate.
