It has been a long day ..... I'm still on London time. The trip home with the detour in Prague took close to 24 hours to complete. I have to say I was very happy with Czech Airlines. If you are looking for an airline that still gives free booze on flights and plenty of it go with Czech if you get a chance. It appears the booze is unlimited as well from what I saw. And this all started on my 7.30 am flight this morning. Me, I was having coffee but the booze was there on the breakfast trolley. But, the flights were on time, the staff were accommodating and they really worked hard at keeping everyone happy. The check ins were a bit weird though - they don't have dedicated check in facilities in all but Prague, so you have to figure out where to queue up. I wasn't warned about this so at a busy airport like Heathrow it was a bit unnerving. We actually had to line up at the Air France stations.
Hats off to Air France for enforcing the carry on rules. Carry on has long been my biggest travel pet peeve. Everyone has huge carry on - often more than one piece. They spend ages looking for places to store it - half of the time, it is too large and too heavy for them to even heft. They hold up everyone else and expect everyone to help them. Check the damm stuff in! At the Air France booth this morning, they were refusing to let anyone take on luggage larger than the metal cage designed to check the size of carry on. And they were just allowing one piece of carry on. I wish all air lines would just enforce the rules. Yes I know, after a few lost luggage stories, people resort to carry on. Fine ... but only take stuff you can actually handle yourself and are able to lift into the overhead and retrieve on your own.
