The start of a new year .... someone asked me last night if I was making a New Year's Resolution - I'm not really, but my one hope is to get back to running and working out regularly. For one reason or another, 2005 was a bad year for working out. I am really anxious to get back on a regular running schedule. When I see someone running now - I am envious. I long to get out there for 10k. My ankle sprain is now 7 weeks old. It is getting better but is still not ready for running yet. I have been walking a lot - trying to walk on uneven surfaces to strengthen the muscles. Ligaments once stretched in a sprain never return to their previous state - strengthening the muscles is the only way to get the ankle stable and strong again. This injury has made me realize how fragile the body is - but resilient at the same time.
Walking is actually healthier than running, but I would really miss jogging if I couldn't do it. I would like to go more to yoga and get back into aerobics. However, this involves having to go to classes and I don't make myself do it!
