With the placement of Christmas & New Years this year, I was able to take three vacation days and get ten days away from the office - that was a bargain. Hard to believe but five days have passed now. The highlight of Christmas was spending time with my adult nephews. It has become tradition that I walk for a couple of hours on Christmas day with the oldest of my nephews. There have been times I've worried about him but he seems to be growing up to be a really good guy. He watched his mother die of lung cancer when he was 7 years old (she was 33) and his father (my brother) is alcoholic. Not an easy life for him.
I've had a quiet Christmas so far .... lots of long walks, lots of rehabilitation (sprained ankle still) and a couple of movies. I saw The Chronicles of Narnia yesterday (excellent) and Capote tonight (didn't love it). I have a date on New Year's Eve - the plan is to see Memoirs of a Geisha. This guy is an unexpected turn for me - I've usually waited a long time after something ends to start something new. We have had a couple of dates and I will meet some of his friends on New Year's Eve. I think I will take this one slowly though.
Wishing you a belated Merry Christmas and the best of all possible New Years.
