We had a really great run tonight ... instead of running on the trails near my house, we ran through Rattray Marsh - about a 1 minute drive from my house. This is a wonderful spot near the lake - the run is a hilly one - it winds through a beautiful old neighbourhood and then veers off onto a forest type trail that leads into the marsh area. The city has built wooden, raised paths through the marsh. There are bird watching stations all along the way. It is so cool to run through the marsh. The trail ends up coming out at another park that has a beach along Lake Ontario and a fantastic view of the Toronto skyline in the distance. We were almost the only ones in the marsh and the park tonight - it was drizzly and a bit dreary out. But totally beautiful at the same time. The view across the lake to the Toronto skyline was actually very clear. We remarked that the only thing that really gets us out to enjoy these evening is our run - I would never head down to this area on a rainy evening were it not for running. One more reason to run outside.
