My mission for the weekend is to find a training plan for a 10k run. The city where our office is located (and where I live) is hosting their first marathon (42.2 k) this year ... in addition to this distance there will also be a half marathon (21.1 k) and a 10 k.
It looks like we are ending up with a whole team from our department in the race. It started out with a couple of the guys and after some gentle persuasian, interest has spread. By the end of the day I think we had about 10 people interested. This has some fun possibilities. Most of this group do not run at present - the one or two who do mainly run a 5 k distance.
I have several years worth of back issues to 'Runner's World' magazine and have offered to scour the issues for a training plan - they have about 2 months to prepare. I will either run as well or go and cheer them on.
And then I'll get you to L.A. some March to run our marathon. I never was a runner, but living close to the ocean, they schedule a lot of 10 Ks here.

I have a gentler aim. I am hoping to do a walk to Cradle Mountain in Tasmania over Easter and am working on my endurance. Tomorrow I am doing our City-to-Surf in reverse. A distance of 14km. I will then have to walk home from the city ... if I am able. I will do this for a couple of weekends and then see how I feel about doing the same route in forwards direction ... much much harder and including "heartbreak hill". Good to have these sorts of aims, methinks.
