I seem to be out of the habit of updating this blog - poor neglected thing. I had a post finished on the weekend - and as is so common with Typepad ... one wrong keystroke - and gone. Times like that I am so disguested with the poor editing capabilities of typepad. There should be a safety net asking 'are you sure you want to delete this post?' before it actually does it. When this happens, I have to walk away from the compter before cancelling the account in complete frustration. I wish typepad had done QA on this section of their product. My team would never that a horror like that pass!
But here I am ... somewhat recovered.
I've been doing a ton of stuff lately. Enjoying life. Still terribly busy at work. The projects roll in. I'm just hiring three additional people. Two down and one to go.
I have been proud to be a Canadian and a Torontonian twice this week. I attended the annual Gay Pride Parade on Sunday - I never did hear an exact figure on the total attendance, but it was hugely attended. This city supports diversity. Members of every race and ethnic group in the city were there. Every person who attended the parade, showed by their very participation, that they value open minded thinking and freedom of choice - respect for people's choices. The Chief of Police for the City of Toronto marched in the parade this year - accompanied by a group of same sex officers. Way to go. This was the 25th anniversary of the parade and Pride celebration.
This event was particularly meaningful this year .... two days later Canada joined two other countries to be the only countries where same sex marriage is legal. This is so cool. It may not be 100% supported and there is a lot of opposition, but this is law now.
This weekend is a long weekend - Canada Day. Extra long as I am taking tomorrow off as well. I am going to a yoga retreat this weekend. This is at the same retreat that I went to in May. The same group of people will be there again. We have all been corresponding since the May weekend and agreed to meet up again. I am very excited about this. The last retreat felt very much like spending the weekend with a group of dear friends - the hosts too of course. At the start of the weekend we were strangers and friends by the end. It will be great to be in their company again. We plan to - do some yoga, ride our bikes, eat fantastic vegetarian food (especially) go to the beach, visit some galleries and ...... enjoy each other's company.
