Fast Food chains are moving towards giving detailed nuitritional information on their menu items - story here - . The newscast last night included some consumer reaction to this news - and surprisingly most people expressed the view that they felt it's a waste of time.
I'm wondering why? I think if I headed up to the McDonalds counter with the intention of ordering a fish burger - which I have to admit that I sometimes do - and saw the numbers on fat and calories, I might just pick something else - although at McDonalds the choice is limited - for now anyhow. Perhaps that will change. The people interviewed on the news said - 'everyone knows this stuff is bad for you and is full of fat and calories - no need to tell us the exact numbers. We'll order it anyhow.'
It's true - no one thinks a burger, fries and coke is a sensible meal. If they had the actual facts, staring them right in the face at choice time, would they make a better choice?
i agree-- nutritional menu at a fast food restaurant? like i really wanna know!

We indulge so seldom in fast food, that I actually enjoy MacDonald's as a treat!

I must say, we don't have a McDonald's here in Bim, but I still didn't feel the need for a Big Mac when I visited my sis in Canada in 2004, because she's a great cook, and there are other restaurants that serve great food up there, so there was no real need for fast food.
Though I was a Tim Horton's addict, coffee and a doughnut. Everyday.
